Mama Love Helps Combat Climate Change
Hello Everybody!
Mama Love is Combatting Climate Change!
As you may know, I have a new day job working for the Regenerative Agriculture Initiative at Chico State where I write about natural methods that combat climate change and address food scarcity. Regenerative methods avoid practices that lead to soil erosion and loss of soil fertility and replace them with those that support the soil biology, reduce the need for fertilizers and pesticides, and offer significantly improved crop yields. It also surprisingly improves the soil’s ability to store carbon that plants draw down from the atmosphere through photosynthesis. In other words, it actually helps reverse climate change!
What does this have to do with Mama Love? Everything! Did you know that all the flower essences I use are either ethically wildcrafted or are Biodynamically farmed? That was the first Regenerative farming practice! And now Etsy, where my online shop resides, has just announced that they are the FIRST global e-commerce company to completely offset carbon emissions from shipping. I’m so happy to hear it!

How did August treat you? Lots of people, I think, found it to be somewhat challenging. I’m not an astrologer, just an occasional dabbler, but with SIX planets in retrograde last month a bit of frustration might have built up! Even if you don’t relate to astrology, the news cycle has been ramping up and up with new revelations every day but so far no solid actions or end in sight. And it’s been a HOT summer! If you live on the west coast of the United States or anyplace affected by the rampant fires happening across the globe, the oppressive or frightening impact of fire and smokey air and concern about what’s going to happen next and where could have had a significant impact on your psyche.
For me, true to a retrograde period of reviewing old material, I wrote a number of blog posts about flower essences related to an old topic for me—spiritual emergence and emergency—and put those essences in my Etsy shop. Paul and I, oddly, started our spiritual counseling and healing practice many years ago with a number of clients who wanted help with that issue even though we never actually intended to do that kind of work at all. We learned a lot about it though through that process so I wrote a general blog post on the subject with the flower essences I recommend.
You’ll also find a number of blog posts and Etsy listings for flower essences related to reviewing and healing past history and feeling tired . . . all topics that might have been stirred up in this strange retrograde influenced August. You’ll find those all here.
Things ought to be feeling better soon! But I expect we’re still going to be going through things proceeding one step at a time instead of in gigantic leaps. Stay hopeful!

July Newsletter for Mama Love and Healing Communication News
Hello Everybody,
Hope your summer is going well. But maybe it’s been challenging, especially if you live in the United States.
Recent events have been keeping Paul and I awake at night and compulsively glued to Facebook or the news and trying to find ways to speak out. About a year ago I had created a formula for people struggling with political angst that had a neutral-sounding name. The two of us started using it again a week or two ago and it has remarkable effect. After regular use, we feel cleansed of politically-induced stress, much more hopeful and positively focussed. We have to keep it up since the news adds more pain for many of us everyday but it IS working! So I changed the name to (forgive me) “Trump Be Gone”! It’s not a magic potion for getting rid of him in any way but in your psyche, but if that’s something you need, you might want to give it a try.
I’ve been adding three items to my Etsy shop and writing about them every week for a few months. For obvious reasons, in the last few weeks I’ve added three Reiki infused, dosage-strength, flower essence dropper bottles and sprays for childhood trauma related to mothering: Mariposa Lily, Splendid Mariposa Lily, and Evening Primrose. All of these are for people who had their early relationship with their closest caregiver (usually their mother) disrupted in some traumatic way. Perhaps they were abandoned or neglected, abused, rejected or given away. Perhaps they had trouble bonding with their mom or mom had trouble bonding with them (because of post-partum depression, for example). Maybe they were torn away from their parent’s arms through no fault of their own and . . . sorry, I’ll stop there. You know why I wanted to add these to my shop! There are a lot of children who could use these (along with others for dealing with trauma, horror, terror and grief). And there are a lot more adults getting their own early childhood traumas kicked up just knowing about it. I’ll provide links to the blog posts I’ve written about them below along with one other. The blog posts will have links to the products themselves.

Happy Father’s Day Everybody,
I just realized that I forgot to send a newsletter out at the beginning of the month. Paul and I have been SO busy—we’re caregiving for BOTH his parents now. I used to work for the Alzheimer’s Association and for a Family Caregiver Resource Center so I know a lot about caregiving issues from the perspective of a professional. But taking it on yourself — for two people living in separate houses — required a pretty steep learning curve nonetheless! (And we’re just getting started!)Of course, that made me think a bit about whether flower essences could be of help. Not for Paul and me (we already KNOW they help there) but for people with early stage memory loss and confusion. I need to be clear that I’m not talking about a cure from a medical standpoint (and perhaps not a “cure” at all). Flower essences address emotional and mental patterns. But there are such SIGNIFICANT correlations of emotional distress to the symptoms of Alzheimer’s Disease—loneliness, grief and depression stemming from BEFORE symptoms start to appear—that it’s practically criminal that more scientific research hasn’t been going to that issue. On the other hand, there’s no harm in people working on addressing those factors on our own, and flower essences are a tool I have found quite effective. You’ll find an article about what essences I might recommend below.
I’ve also been living more of an artist’s life recently. I had a piece accepted into a juried show in a MUSEUM!!!! Yes, I am excited! It’s a show called “Persistence” and it features all women artists from Northern California. It’s at MONCA (the Museum of Northern California Art) in Chico, CA and runs through mid-July. It’s a wonderful show — be sure to see it if you happen to be in the area! And that made me think about flower essences for the artist path. So I wrote about that on my blog (see below) as well.

| Flower Essence Healing for the National Dark Night of the Soul |
Happy New Year!
I must say that I feel renewed hope going into the New Year. Not because I think something outside will be much improved (although that’s a possibility), but because WE have changed. Some of us (many of us?) have had rude awakenings this year and I know from hard experience that awakening isn’t always pretty business. Sometimes we have to lose what used to feel really important in order to be willing to allow/create true transformation, change that has to be done. (Yes, I’m talking about politics but this applies to all kinds of challenging transformations.)
Not feeling as hopeful as I am? Well, I wasn’t either. So I’ll let you in on my little secret. I made a flower essence formula for that, and Paul and I have both been experimenting with it with positive results. So far I make it on demand only in unscented flower essence dropper bottle or unscented spray form (but if you want a scented oil or spray as a custom order I’ll be happy to discuss it with you). This formula combines Sweet Chestnut (for hope and strength in the midst of despair), Beech (for tolerating what feels intolerable), Willow (for moving beyond misery), and Impatiens (for the patience needed for events to play out and things to heal). One thought that comes to mind as I attempt to conclude this little piece: after you feel freedom from that despair and misery thing, what do you want to create for your life and participate in creating for the world this year? Instead of being in reaction to outside events we cannot control, perhaps it is time go within, ask what we really WANT, find others who want that, too, and band together to get it done!

We have a new next door neighbor who has a cat named Jack who wants to be our new best friend (he invades our apartment as often as possible). We miss having a cat and he must know that! So this month’s newsletter is devoted to pets.

Flower Essences and Your Pets
Did you know that the reason I went from a flower essence skeptic to a flower essence practitioner and product maker was after seeing the amazing transformation they initiated for my cat Chloe? It’s true! I wanted nothing to do with this modality—I thought it was weird beyond belief that a few drops of HIGHLY diluted flower tea preserved with brandy could do anything! But my roommate was gaga for them and when my vet recommended them for Chlo-Chlo Kitty I decided it was the perfect time to try an experiment. After all, my cat wouldn’t know what the flower essences were for so it was a great opportunity to rule out the idea of results being a placebo effect.
Chloe was a shelter kitty with lopsided markings on her face, who had greasy fur and suffered from a tendency to get sick easily. That’s her photo in the newsletter. She had lived in the shelter several months (somehow wasn’t euthanized) and watched her mom and all her litter-mates adopted before her. I was passing her by myself when she reached out a paw and patted me on the back. When I turned to look she rolled over on her back and reached both paws out and patted me again. I couldn’t help falling in love—no other cat at the shelter was acting like that. The staff was delighted! Chloe was a favorite of theirs because of her sweet and truly funny personality. But she was quite terrified to allow a new person into her heart. She would follow me around the house crying pitifully like she really wanted to be petted but then would yelp and run away whenever I would try to touch her. Nothing I did seemed to help.
So I used Mariposa Flower Essence with her, the flower essence for happier mother-child bonding, in conventional dropper bottle form. Chloe actually allowed me to give her the drops by mouth! (Don’t expect this with any other cat. Chloe loved water and in later years would even hop into the shower with me to play and get soaked in the bath.) Normally you would put the drops in their food or water or use my sprays lightly on their food or at a distance (if they don’t mind it) around their heads and bodies. But Chloe would literally open her mouth happily on her own as soon as she saw the dropper bottle to allow me to put the drops in her mouth!
The transformation was immediate and amazing! Within a few minutes of using this flower essence she let me pet her for the very first time, at least briefly, while she relaxed in the box she was using as a bed. Within a week she was voluntarily curling up with me in my bed and allowing me to pet her for long periods of time. And within a month her fur stopped being greasy, filled out and became fluffy and gorgeous! She also remained a very healthy cat throughout most of her life.
When I decided to make a line of flower essence products for pets, in Chloe’s honor, I decided to focus on the issues most common with shelter pets. They’re all infused with Reiki and come in two sizes (1 oz and 2 oz):
• For Healthy Bonding: this uses Mariposa Lily as one of its main ingredients and is similar to what I used with Chloe.
• For Happier Indoor Living: for helping a pet who used to be able to go outside and roam adapt to living inside in a much smaller territory.
• For Recovering from Grief and Loss: for pets who have not gotten over the death of a previous caregiver or abandonment.
• For Getting Along with Others: useful when introducing a new animal to a household with other pets
• For Healing Aggression: when a pet responds to an overstimulating or terrifying new environment by striking out in an overly self-protective way.

Hello Everybody!
Hope you are having a good Spring. I did a new painting in celebration. I call it “A Willful Act of Resistance” because an art teacher who meant well insisted that a real artist wouldn’t “waste their time” painting vases of flowers. . . so that, of course, is what I did. I also think that when times feel hard or scary (as they do for many of us these days), deliberately choosing to focus on what we love or want to create is also a willful act of resistance. It made me feel SO much better. I highly recommend a similar practice for all of you: what do you love? What do you want to create? It’s probably more important than ever now. New by Popular Request!
I have had several requests for a formula for “Healing a Broken Heart”. I’ve always used my “Support for Troubled Times” formulas for that. They both contain Star of Bethlehem which is great for handling the shock and trauma. But “Troubled Times” is just not specific enough for addressing the longing for a relationship no longer in your life or for accepting what has happened so you can put it behind you. This new formula could also be used when forced to leave a long time home, business, or dearly wished for dream behind.
The flower essences include Bleeding Heart, Walnut and Star of Bethlehem and a wonderful smelling blend of Lavender, Neroli, Ylang Ylang, and Helichrysum for helping to soothe and balance intense emotions.
