This month I've continued exploring a long time interest of mine that combines flower essences, my love of color as an artist, and my interest in energy healing, especially in regards to the chakra system. I started with the color orange for selfish reasons—that's a color I'm trying to make friends with AND it is also the color associated with the second chakra, the chakra I am paying particular attention to as a healer in my life. (I'll try to go in a more logical order after this.)

I've also been exploring how flower essences help us resolve polarities in relationship with ourselves and with other people. I think this is a really important subject for so many reasons, and I've also become convinced that this is how flower essences work. But you'll also find blog posts this month on a variety of far less esoteric topics inspired by what people have been buying in my shop. And a blast from the past video from 17 years ago about how I got into flower essences when I was a total skeptic before. Hope it all helps!

Happy Labor Day! Happy September!

This newsletter went in interesting directions. This past month I wrote blog posts about working with challenges on long-term healing journeys, ones specific to working with emotions related to the current political conditions (sorry, not sorry—people going through stuff are my focus). There were ones about joy! And others about life purpose. As I'm putting this newsletter together, I don't think these are unrelated topics. I think we're in the beginning stages of what has the potential to be a long-term healing journey as a global community (not just as a nation). But it depends, I guess, on what we decide. Hello Everybody,

Hanging in there? I hope so! I have a new flower essence in my shop this month—Lady's Mantle. I'll tell you all about that. Plus I've been in the process of shifting from an overly reactive viewpoint to a more proactive future-creating one. I imagine that was reflected in my bog posts this month. They're about patience, engaging your heart along with your head, accessing guidance in your sleep, and reconnecting with nature.

Hello Everybody,

I've noticed interesting shifts this past month or so for myself and for other people—what looks like a desire to strike a balance between coping with daily outside-driven upsets and a return to what we want for our own personal growth and development. That shows up as more purchases in my shop for things other than grief, anger and fear or, that, and additional choices that typically reflect different concerns.

I actually decided to take that trend as guidance for myself and felt a great improvement in how it made me feel to finally allow space for listening and acting on inner desires I've been glossing over and pushing aside. (Highly recommend!) So that's what this month's selection of blog posts represents: a selection of each. Hope you find it helpful!

May 2025 Mama Love News

 

Hello Everybody,

How are you doing? I'm feeling more optimistic and hopeful and I think my blog posts reflect how I got there. So I'm definitely sharing that today.

I also want to let you know that I have no reason to raise prices because of tariffs at this point in time. I bought a large shipment of bottles in December of last year and that's the only thing that might be badly effected by tariffs if my bottle suppliers don't find another source. But I'm set for many months, maybe a year or so right now. There are a few herb and black tea products I'm holding off on buying, but I'm pretty well stocked there as well. And most of my flower essence ingredients are made in California, so we're probably good for awhile!

Unfortunately, I don't know what to tell you if you live in another country. I had assumed you wouldn't have to pay a tariff for the typical order most people make, but I hear that might change and is country-dependent. So I apologize for that! I very much appreciate your business, but I completely understand if you need to take care of yourself there. I hope it gets worked out soon.

Hello Everybody,

I felt a nice upsurge of hope when the trees burst into flower here in Chico, CA a few weeks ago. If Spring hasn't arrived in your neck of the woods, trust me, it will. Hopefully, it will feel good to you, too.

My focus this month remains the same. Whenever I don't know what to write about on my blog, I check to see what's selling in my shop. And that —especially right now—tends to be a great reflection of the general mood in a significant portion of the United States and Canada (where most of my customers live). Late last night I had a sudden uptick of sales in my Etsy shop and they ALL included products for coping with grief. So I'm going to start this email with links to the ones I recommend (which are also the ones they chose). I'm right there with you using them for myself.

Hello Everybody,

I wish you all the best in the new year!

As we go into the coming year, some of us are hearing fearful messages about what 2025 may bring. I see very few people in my social media feed looking forward to it. VERY few social media posts are about New Year’s resolutions. No posts about dreaming big, just that it’s okay to dream small. And yet, I always think that setting positive intentions at the beginning of the year is a healthy thing to do. For me, this is taking the form, this time, of intending the gist of what I want to create. For example, we can’t control outcome, but I feel like we can intend that we thrive. We can intend the gist of dreams coming true in the sense of having the abundance of love, tranquility, rest, joy, etc. that we really want to experience—the gist of what we believe “dreams coming true” would allow us to feel. And I think we can be guided to the best ways forward for achieving that goal. 

It's okay to dream, and to dream big (or small). What experience do you want to create in the new year?

Election Stress Special Edition

 

We've had a very consequential election. Some of you are celebrating. I hope it works out well for you. This particular post isn't for you.

On the other hand, if you are one of the 30-45 million people in the United States freaking out right now and looking for help, I'll do what I can. I don't have lots of words of wisdom besides look for the helpers Mr. Rogers said to look for when scary things happen. Breathe, breathe, breathe. And don't make plans in haste. We all probably need to take a beat before figuring out what we need to do.
