December Mama Love and Healing Communication News


Hello Everybody,

What a month! As you may or may not know Paul and I live in Chico, CA which is just down the hill from the mountain communities affected by the Camp Fire. This was an incredibly horrific event as the town of Paradise was almost entirely burned to ashes and people had to run for their lives with only minutes to spare as flames burned all around them. 88 people died, more than 100 are still missing, and at least 50,000 were displaced from their homes. Most of them were evacuated to Chico (a small city of less than 100,000 people originally) and we’ve been in a humanitarian crisis of extremely challenging proportions ever since. 

Luckily, the thick smoke — off the charts of hazardous air quality —has finally been washed away, and aid from around the country and across the world has flooded in. We all have just begun quite the mutual journey but as the most popular local meme says: The Love in the Air is Thicker than the Smoke (and that meme came out when the smoke was at its worst).

Despite this, of course, many people have experienced a great deal of trauma. I have a special discount for evacuees wanting emotional care products for themselves, for friends and families hosting them, and those who want to send an emotional care package to them. A New Chapter Beginning


 When I was pretty young, I believe sometime in the 4th or 5th grade, I read the book Silent Spring by Rachel Carson. It had been out for some time but had recently been in the news because pesticide manufacturers were fighting to keep DDT from being banned by the EPA—despite mounting evidence that it was pushing several bird species to the brink of extinction and was harmful to human beings.

Sept 2018 Mama Love and Healing Communication News

Hello Everybody,

How did August treat you? Lots of people, I think, found it to be somewhat challenging. I’m not an astrologer, just an occasional dabbler, but with SIX planets in retrograde last month a bit of frustration might have built up! Even if you don’t relate to astrology, the news cycle has been ramping up and up with new revelations every day but so far no solid actions or end in sight. And it’s been a HOT summer! If you live on the west coast of the United States or anyplace affected by the rampant fires happening across the globe, the oppressive or frightening impact of fire and smokey air and concern about what’s going to happen next and where could have had a significant impact on your psyche. 
For me, true to a retrograde period of reviewing old material, I wrote a number of blog posts about flower essences related to an old topic for me—spiritual emergence and emergency—and put those essences in my Etsy shop. Paul and I, oddly, started our spiritual counseling and healing practice many years ago with a number of clients who wanted help with that issue even though we never actually intended to do that kind of work at all. We learned a lot about it though through that process so I wrote a general blog post on the subject with the flower essences I recommend. 
You’ll also find a number of blog posts and Etsy listings for flower essences related to reviewing and healing past history and feeling tired . . . all topics that might have been stirred up in this strange retrograde influenced August. You’ll find those all here.
Things ought to be feeling better soon! But I expect we’re still going to be going through things proceeding one step at a time instead of in gigantic leaps. Stay hopeful!

August 2018 Newsletter for Mama Love and Healing Communication



James Dean in "Rebel Without a Cause"
Hello Everybody,

Lots of new products in my Etsy shop and lots of new articles on my blog! (I’ve been busy!)

The article I spent the most time on was about the spiritual archetype of the Rebel. Our Inner Rebels might be getting fairly stirred up lately. They’re the ones that want to shake things up, change the world, oppose the status quo. On the other hand, an out of control Rebel can be a nightmare as they are the outlaws, the chaos-makers, and the people who rip things up just for the fun of it without caring about how it affects anyone else! So, yes, issues about Rebels are definitely in the air.

And we all have one! Mine sometimes takes the form of getting sick and tired of having to be the oh-so-spiritual Healer all the time. That’s when I name a product something controversial instead of something sweet enough to be loved by everybody (like last month). That product’s name has been changed back to its original neutral form. But my Inner Rebel was mad at me for it. So I wrote about the archetype in general and how flower essences can be used to support and/or calm the Inner Rebel down.

I also wrote a long article on over-perfectionism — the opposite, in some ways, of the Rebel pattern! (In fact, the Rebel might come out to try to counter an overly-perfectionistic point of view.) I wrote about that pattern in general and flower essences to work with that one, too.

July Newsletter for Mama Love and Healing Communication News



Hello Everybody,

Hope your summer is going well. But maybe it’s been challenging, especially if you live in the United States. 
Recent events have been keeping Paul and I awake at night and compulsively glued to Facebook or the news and trying to find ways to speak out. About a year ago I had created a formula for people struggling with political angst that had a neutral-sounding name. The two of us started using it again a week or two ago and it has remarkable effect. After regular use, we feel cleansed of politically-induced stress, much more hopeful and positively focussed. We have to keep it up since the news adds more pain for many of us everyday but it IS working! So I changed the name to (forgive me) “Trump Be Gone”! It’s not a magic potion for getting rid of him in any way but in your psyche, but if that’s something you need, you might want to give it a try.
I’ve been adding three items to my Etsy shop and writing about them every week for a few months. For obvious reasons, in the last few weeks I’ve added three Reiki infused, dosage-strength, flower essence dropper bottles and sprays for childhood trauma related to mothering: Mariposa Lily, Splendid Mariposa Lily, and Evening Primrose. All of these are for people who had their early relationship with their closest caregiver (usually their mother) disrupted in some traumatic way. Perhaps they were abandoned or neglected, abused, rejected or given away. Perhaps they had trouble bonding with their mom or mom had trouble bonding with them (because of post-partum depression, for example). Maybe they were torn away from their parent’s arms through no fault of their own and . . . sorry, I’ll stop there. You know why I wanted to add these to my shop! There are a lot of children who could use these (along with others for dealing with trauma, horror, terror and grief). And there are a lot more adults getting their own early childhood traumas kicked up just knowing about it. I’ll provide links to the blog posts I’ve written about them below along with one other. The blog posts will have links to the products themselves.

June Newsletter for Mama Love and Healing Communication News

Happy Father’s Day Everybody,

I just realized that I forgot to send a newsletter out at the beginning of the month. Paul and I have been SO busy—we’re caregiving for BOTH his parents now. I used to work for the Alzheimer’s Association and for a Family Caregiver Resource Center so I know a lot about caregiving issues from the perspective of a professional. But taking it on yourself — for two people living in separate houses — required a pretty steep learning curve nonetheless! (And we’re just getting started!)

Of course, that made me think a bit about whether flower essences could be of help. Not for Paul and me (we already KNOW they help there) but for people with early stage memory loss and confusion. I need to be clear that I’m not talking about a cure from a medical standpoint (and perhaps not a “cure” at all). Flower essences address emotional and mental patterns. But there are such SIGNIFICANT correlations of emotional distress to the symptoms of Alzheimer’s Disease—loneliness, grief and depression stemming from BEFORE symptoms start to appear—that it’s practically criminal that more scientific research hasn’t been going to that issue. On the other hand, there’s no harm in people working on addressing those factors on our own, and flower essences are a tool I have found quite effective. You’ll find an article about what essences I might recommend below.

I’ve also been living more of an artist’s life recently. I had a piece accepted into a juried show in a MUSEUM!!!! Yes, I am excited! It’s a show called “Persistence” and it features all women artists from Northern California. It’s at MONCA (the Museum of Northern California Art) in Chico, CA and runs through mid-July. It’s a wonderful show — be sure to see it if you happen to be in the area! And that made me think about flower essences for the artist path. So I wrote about that on my blog (see below) as well.

May 2018 Newsletter for Mama Love and Healing Communication News



Happy Spring Everybody,

Have you been enjoying the nice Spring weather? Paul and I certainly have been! We’ve been eating breakfast on our apartment balcony and getting outside for walks every day. Gotta enjoy the present moment as much as possible these days— there’s just too much attempting to capture everyone's attention and drag it into the abyss. 

While I can’t do anything about that, I have decided to refocus my attention on the good things we can actually do something about. This is a decision that sometimes has to be remade a couple times a day. Paul and I help each other with that. One result is that I’ve been writing up a storm on my blog this month. So I’ll let the blog do the talking for the newsletter this time around (see the links below). 

I also have lots of new items in my Etsy shop. Reiki infused unscented flower essence dropper bottles and sprays are the best sellers right now. I’ve added so many I’ve lost track of them all so I’m just going to have to point you here.  I’ve also added two ingredients for making herb tea: organic Holy Basil (Tulsi Rama) and organic Schisandra Berries . These are both adaptogens which means they are great for stress reduction. You might like them both together in the same blend with Ginger and honey. I’m thinking about adding it to lemonade this summer.

Healing Communication and Mama Love News - March 2018

When we first got started - 13 years ago!


Hello Everybody,
Last month I announced that in-person spiritual counseling sessions with me and my partner Paul aren’t normally available anymore. Oddly, within a few days of mailing that newsletter, we found a local coffeehouse in Chico with a reservable private-feeling space that people can use for consultations, meetings, etc. So if you live in or visit Chico, CA we actually can arrange in-person sessions again! Of course, we continue to offer sessions by phone or Skype. My schedule is changing constantly but at the moment we are both available Thursday or Friday afternoons, most evenings and weekends. Paul has time available earlier in the week as well. However, making appointments at least 48 hours in advance is HIGHLY recommended! 
I’d also like to announce that Mama Love Flower Essence Aromatherapy oils are now available at  Bella Medical Spa! They offer quite a number of spa services including massage and aesthetic treatments. You can visit them at 2151 Wilma Rudolph Blvd. in Clarksville, TN.
I’ve been posting a lot of flower essence-related articles in my blog lately. Here’s one I think might be especially interesting:

This article touches on the addictive pull to seek outside ourselves for what we hope might (at least temporarily) take our pain away and how that can be manipulated politically versus the alternate choice of developing the capacity to handle our pain, heal it, and work with the circumstances we’re in more effectively.
